Muhu Kunstitalu traditsiooniline kunstifestival FUTU MUHU 2026 / Õnn ja viletsus kultuuris Vol.3 kannab alapealkirja: TÕDE.

Muhu Kunstitalu väisavad kunstnikud on oodatud sõnastama vaikust/ rääkima sellest, mis vaevab ja mis hingel lasub. Kunstitalu 2026 aasta videointervjuud toovad Eesti keeleruumi kunstniku vaba kõne. Kunstnikud on oodatud välja tooma oma elu ja loomingu lahendamata küsimused ning isiklikud taotlused tulevikku.
Futu Muhu 2024-26: Hetkest, mil pandeemia hajutas arusaamu isikliku ja ühise erisusest; hetkest mil indiviidi nahapind ei olnud enam piir, on ilmekalt avaldunud asjaolu indiviidi võimetusest etteantud normide ees. Eskaleeruv militaarsituatsioon on kaotamas ettekujutlust inimesest, kui isikliku elu peremehest; Tehisintellekti areng on üle võtmas suuremaid ühiskondlikke süsteeme, tehisaru 0/1 loogika on automaatjuhtimissüsteemi osana asendamas inimlikku ajutegevust ning tehnika võimsus ning komplitseeritus muutmas inimest assistendiks, sageli profaaniks kelle võimuses on uskuda, usaldada, närveerida kuid mitte teada, valida ja hallata.
Festivali eesmärgiks on anda sõna kunstnikele, kes räägivad vabalt neid puudutanud pettumustest, õnne allikatest, vastulöökidest, mõistmatusest, heast koostööst või vastupidi: ignorantsist ja lisavad sel suvel oma sõnad ja hoo humanismi retoorikale.
Videointervjuu andmiseks palume kunstnikel kohapeal valmistada omale mask, mis väljendab/ei väljenda kõiki autori kahetsusi-pettumusi-ootusi ja lootust. Maski valmistamise materjalid ja töövahendid leiab Kunstitalust. Intervjuud on võimalik anda nii anonüümselt kui vastupidi.
Maskid ja videointervjuud moodustavad 2026 aasta Futu Muhu festivali kokkuvõtva väljapaneku augusti II pooles Muhu Kunstitalu Sepikoja galeriis, hooaja lõppedes rändab näitus Tallinna.
“Ja..Niisiis, nõndaviisi.” / FUTU MUHU 2026 tsiteerib 1967 aastal valminud mängufilmi “Viini postmark”, kus Jüri Järveti poolt kehastatud peategelase rolli saame Kunstitalus, soovi korral ja üheks päevaks, anda igale Kunstitalu residendile.

The traditional art festival FUTU MUHU 2026 at Muhu Art Residency / Fortune and Misfortune in Culture – Restoration of Ecosystems. Vol. 3 carries the subtitle TRUTH.
Artists visiting Muhu Art Residency are invited to articulate and make public everything that has so far remained personally unspoken—to speak about what troubles them and what continues to weigh on their minds. The video interviews recorded at the residency in 2026 will bring the artist’s free voice into the Estonian language space. Artists are invited to bring forward unresolved questions related to their lives and work, as well as their personal aspirations for the future.
From the moment the pandemic blurred the boundaries between the personal and the collective—from the moment when the surface of an individual’s skin was no longer a boundary before which a stranger would stop—the inability of the individual to withstand imposed norms has become particularly evident. The escalating military situation is eroding the notion of the human being as the master of their own life; the development of artificial intelligence is taking over increasingly large social systems. The binary logic of machine intelligence (0/1), as part of automated control systems, is replacing human cognitive processes, while the growing power and complexity of technology is turning the human into an assistant—often even a layperson—whose role is to believe, to trust, and to worry, yet not necessarily to know, to choose, or to manage.
The aim of the festival is to give the floor to artists who speak openly about the disappointments that have affected them, their sources of happiness, setbacks, misunderstandings, productive collaborations—or, conversely, experiences of ignorance. In doing so, they will add their voices and momentum to the rhetoric of humanism this summer.
For the video interview, artists are asked to create a mask on site that may—or may not—express the author’s regrets, disappointments, expectations, and hopes. Materials and tools for making the mask will be available at the residency. Interviews may be given either anonymously or under the artist’s own name.
The masks and video interviews will form the concluding exhibition of the FUTU MUHU 2026 festival, opening in the second half of August at the Sepikoda Gallery of Muhu Art Residency. At the end of the season, the exhibition will travel to Tallinn.

FUTU MUHU 2026 quotes the 1967 feature film Viini postmark, in which the main character was portrayed by Jüri Järvet. For one day, we wish to symbolically pass this role on to each of this year’s residents.
