Energy and art - kunst ja energia
Cross-disciplinary project initiated by EAA Art and Innovation Residency (A.I.)with the aim to develop DIY type renewable energy generators (solar, wind, etc)suitable for kinetic art objects. Pilot project for creating a base and developing future creative cooperation between artists and engineers.
EAA Art and Innovation Residency (A.I.) is initiating technical innovation process, as one main part of art residency`s own identity.
A.I. is functioning in ancient farm (buildings are under protection of Heritage Conservation Act) . A.I. Residency`s interests are interdisciplinary and existential, as they lie in integration of art with everyday realities, environmental issues, science(energetics), innovation in general and also in poetical interaction between art and society.
A.I Residency`s Energy Project partners share the same main characteristics, issues of interest: questions of synthesis between arts and science, art and environment, responsible consumerism and creativity processes.
Contest criterias for engineering are: use of Renewable Energy (earth, wind, sun, water...) simplicity (easy to build, DIY), low budget , efficiency and practicality, good presentation, perfect documentation.
Contest criteria for artists is "synthesis between poetry and practicality" of an art object.
There will be two rounds of election:
First selection - presentations of theoretical works for the generators. (Three best projects will be carried out in festival.)
Second selection will identify the most efficient DIY energy apparatus suitable for widespread use.
Best work will be picked by jury of artists and engineers.
Documentations of all entries and 3 generators in practice will be presented on festival exhibition in Muhu, in EKA Gallery (Tallinn, August 2015) . Also in Future- Horizon 2015 Catalogue.
IN 2016 EAA MUHU A. I. RESIDENCY IS STARTING THE LONG TERM ENERGY PROJECT "ART AND ENERGY" IN COOPERATION WITH TALLINNA POLÜTEHNIKUM STUDENTS.
